Congress leaders pay tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on birth anniversary

Hyderabad: The birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was celebrated on a grand scale across the Telangana on Tuesday.
Congress leaders, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi at Somajiguda in cityand paid tributes to him to mark the occasion.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC Telangana in-charge Deepa Das Munshi, TPCC working president Jagga Reddy, former MP V Hanumantha Rao and party leaders also participated in the programme.
On the occasion, the Congress leaders recalled the services rendered by Rajiv Gandhi to the country and said that there was a need to follow the footsteps of former prime minister.
Meanwhile, books and bags were distributed to the students under the leadership of Telangana Fisheries Co-operative Societies Federation Chairman Mettu Saikumar at Gandhi Bhavan. Telangana in-charge Deepa Das Munshi, Congress leaders, including V Hanumantha Rao, MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, District Congress President Rohini Reddy participated in the programme.
The birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi was observed by Congress leaders at the district and mandal headquarters across the State.
